CRNW Forecast of Thu, 2014-0227p

My favorite forecaster for CR and PR is now coming into focus -- it has a 7-day window (third forecast set in table format). Looks like we will have some surf, or not, depending upon which one tells the most accurate story. Who to believe? It is all weather and coming from far, far away.


 The forecast below is the most pessimistic of the lot. It doesn't show any overhead until Fri, March 14th, which is waaaay out there. March 6th 2 ft @ 18 sec seems like it should produce something larger than 2-3 ft surf.

EXTENDED FORECAST (Sunday, March 2nd and beyond)

South Pacific Swell: The SW-SSW swell (215-200 deg) that begins to edge in on Saturday, courtesy of storm activity over the central SPAC several days ago, will continue to fill in on Sunday. This will set up waist-shoulder high range waves at well exposed areas on Sunday, as standouts see sets hit head high. This SW-SSW swell holds into Monday in the waist-head high range before easing next Tuesday/Wednesday.

A recent storm over the deep SE Pacific looks to set up a reinforcing pulse of SSW swell (200-190) that will begin to filter in next Tuesday, mixing with the old, fading SW-SSW swell mentioned above. The SSW swell continues to fill in on Wednesday and will offer surf in the waist-head high range. SSW swell edges down over the second half of next week.

The next storm system, which pushed out from under New Zealand earlier this week, looks to provide another pulse of SW-SSW swell (220-210) that will show during the second half of next week and continue into the following weekend, potentially offering stronger surf than the swells outlined above.
