NW CR Forecast/Report of Tue, June 19, 2012
The forecasted swell filled in with a vengeance this morning (or overnight). We drank a cup of coffee, ate an early breakfast and another cup, drank some water, and watched a little more. As low tide approached Terry and I paddled out to the Outer Wash.
It wasn't a great day out there for Terry -- you know how some days are like that - but it was a fine day for me. Waves were rolling in sets of 5 or 6 in the 8 to 10 ft. range. I caught about 5 of those beasts -- each a little different -- and watched a few roll by at one point just south of me 20 yards pitching out with a face so beautiful -- looked like two man lengths high easily.
After a huge clean-up set rolled through we called it quits out there as the currents were steadily pushing us in towards shore and to the north. I watched Terry catch a few in around The Rock but nothing was working for me... after being outside it was too much of an adjustment. Currents continued to be funky on the paddle-in. All I can say for now is, "I feel good!"

Looking washed out and bumpy this morning from the prior day's stormy winds and shorter period swells. Maybe later some surf?
Midday or so we paddled out to get some wet ones. Surf was small and weak but the water was ultra clear in the sunshine and the reefs below and mountains ashore were beautiful.

NW CR Forecast/Report of Sat, June 16, 2012
This morning Mr Moses was singing praises to the great kahuna that he did no such thing as checking out early! We watched the swell fill in from the low tide at 6am and were in the water by 7:30a, not to exit until about 1130am. Paddled straight out to the Outer Wash and surfed there until the tide was too flush and then rode The Rock Northside for the next hour and a half. The waves were kicking some ass in both places with the Northside break connecting well into the inside. Semi-glassy conditions -- wind held off until about noon.
We were dog tired upon exiting. Of course, I banged one of my toes up getting out of the water and then dragged my right foot over a branch sticking out of the sand when fetching my sandals. Felt stoned drunk!
Post session grinds: The cocinera whipped up a late breakfast for us, huevos and papas ticos and some wonderful German Bakery bread + papaya y piña & café.

Small early and most of the day and windy and junky most of the day. Around 4pm there were signs of a new swell rolling in and by sunset it was confirmed as the Outer Wash and Central Station were breaking nicely. Maybe the forecasted swell was 36 to 48 hours late?

The big swell that was forecasted a few days ago never materialized and the subsequent forecasts have been smaller. This morning's swell during mid- to high-tide was good for about an hour (I caught 30 minutes of that) but the wind began blowing on-shore and the form quickly deteriorated. The swell appeared to be mixed up and rather week. Weather conditions were great with partly sunny skies returning and as usual ultra clear water with the sun out. Waves at The Rock Southside and Lil Ala Moana had peaks of 5 to 6 feet and walls of 3 to 4 feet. The occasional connection to the inside reefs would jack up and become curly.

In the water at 10a, out at 1pm. Surfed The Rock Northside about 10-20 yds further off the rock than normal. The peaks and lines were coming in steep, juicy and glassy. Lots of fun drops, turns and re-entries. What a fun session! Looks like another solid swell arriving in a few days :)

Sunday Morning Report. The swell was definitely in the water today. Terry and I mostly surfed The Rock Northside although I also caught some at The Wash. Watching some of the waves rolled through on Southside was something to behold - huge grinders - but you weren't going to catch me over there along the shallow rock ledge with clean-up sets rolling through. Three hours in the water and my legs were shot and my soul was satisfied. Post session grinds: The usual.

This morning more of the swell had filled in -- Outer Wash not
really working on the outgoing tide so we paddled out to The Wash.
Mostly rode the right side of The Rock and also some of The Wash
waves but there was a price to pay hanging in the takeoff zone as
walls of white water would roll through on the bigger set. Our
bodies are beat from head to toe. Very light winds and semi-glassy
conditions. Water is around 80F, air much warmer.
Post Session Grinds: Plata Typico (huevos, frito bacon, rice
beans, and fruit. The afternoon should be good.
