Looks like we can expect surf in the 4 to 6 ft range for most of the week, some days smaller (12 sec swells) and some days larger (14-15 sec). End of our first week the long range forecast is showing some 18-20 sec 2 ft swell which could translate into some more powerful 5-6 ft surf. We will get wet and have some fun! Good days to test out the equipment and fin arrangements.

Short and Long Term Forecast effective
Friday evening, Feb 27, 2015.
SHORT TERM FORECAST (through Monday, March 2nd):
South Pacific Swell:
Fun zone SSW(210-200) swell holds going into the weekend, with
waist-chest-shoulder high surf at the better breaks on Saturday. Those
waves wind down as the SSW swell fades for smaller surf on Sunday.
Long-period new SSW Southern Hemi swell picking up by Monday afternoon for waist-chest+ waves showing, largest late.
Wind/Weather: Most areas through central and southern Costa Rica will see a diurnal
wind pattern, with calm to locally light offshore flow for the early to
mid mornings, before a light+moderate onshore sea-breeze gradually
develops into the afternoon. For northern Costa Rica look
moderate to locally stronger offshore flow (strongest offshore flow for
the northern half of the Nicoya Peninsula towards the Nicaragua border,
lighter for the southern end) for the mornings. Northern regions remain
offshore through the day as other areas see winds turning onshore.
EXTENDED FORECAST (Tuesday, March 3rd, and beyond):
Highlights: Solid Southern Hemi peaks next week.
South Pacific Swell:
A good looking fetch was aimed towards Central America through most of
this week by a storm over the central SPAC. The healthy, long-period
SSW (210-200) Southern Hemi swell starts to fill in next Monday
afternoon, steadily builds in through Tuesday, then tops out on
Wednesday with consistent overhead to double overhead zone waves at lots
of well exposed spots while the better breaks see more size. That surf
then gradually eases through the second half of the upcoming week.
Next
more moderate scale SSW swell due to fill in on Saturday, 7th, then
peaks on the 8th-9th. We'll keep you posted on the progress of that
storm/swell system as it develops.
