CRNW Forecast of Fri/Sat, 2015-0523

We are now 10 days and counting!

The next week appears to provide solid surfing waves for SR's Cove, with all swells 4.0 ft or larger and periods mostly in the 15 to 20 sec range.

SAT-SUN-MON: A new and partially shadowed SSW swell
will build in through Saturday morning and top out in the afternoon,
holding through Sunday morning. Look for head high to overhead sets
across the better exposures this weekend, with some of the standout
spots producing occasional sets running 2-3 feet overhead. Select
magnets may even see slightly bigger waves/peaks during the more
favorable tides (strongest Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning).
This energy will then slowly ease Sunday afternoon into Monday, then
holding fairly steady through Tuesday.

WEATHER/WIND: Look  for light offshore to locally moderate offshore
wind for the early to mid mornings at most spots (strongest toward the Nica
border), before a moderate onshore seabreeze gradually develops over the
late morning hours and into each afternoon. Good chance for the wind to
back off in the evenings for a glassoff at many locations before dark,
especially the more sheltered/tucked away spots.

Most of the region will see partly cloudy/sunny skies each day. However, there will be
occasional passing showers and T-storms scattered about, especially
offshore. Keep in mind that passing or nearby showers and thunderstorms
can temporarily affect/change local wind conditions.

EXTENDED FORECAST (Wednesday, May 27th and beyond)

South Pacific Swell: A recent storm off the southern tip of South America,
along with one over the Southwest Pacific, will deliver an overlapping pair
of swells (South 195-175° and SW 235-210°) for the second half of next week,
gradually filling in over Tues/Wed the 26th-27th.

This combo tops out Thurs/Fri the 28th-29th, which will be similar in size to
slightly smaller than the swell due this weekend, offering chest-overhead
surf at good exposures.

NOTE - With this combo, the Galapagos shadow will be pretty much obsolete,
allowing for nearly all the better exposures to partake in fun-size surf
during that time. Beyond that - Long range models suggest that another
Southwest Pacific storm may develop over the next few days or so, potentially
sending some decent SW swell (235-205°) for the first week of June, with
possibly the 3rd-5th as the strongest days. Stay posted, still pending
development.
