CRNW Forecast of Mon/Tue, 2015-0602

Last night's long range supreme forecasting service, buoyweather and may another one or two. No doubt will have some divergent predictions, but I say we will have ridable waves!

The table below is showing good-sized surf, the written report and figure below that call for 2-3 ft upon our arrival Wed afternoon. Guess I don't have to drive 100mph on the back roads!!!

Effective Monday evening

SHORT TERM FORECAST (through Wednesday, June 3rd)
Highlights: Modest blend of SW and South swells over the next couple days.
South Pacific Swell: Tues/Wed will see an overlapping mix of modest SW (235-205°) and South (195-175°) swells. Expect surf to hang mainly in the waist high zone (2-3'+) over the next couple days at the better exposures, while some of the standout spots produce occasional chest-shoulder high sets (4'+), which will be most prominent during the more favorable tides. NOTE - The Galapagos will partially shadow the SW energy for the southern half of Costa.

EXTENDED FORECAST (Thursday, June 4th and beyond)
Highlights: New SW swell will gradually fill in over the second half of the week, topping out by Monday the 8th.
South Pacific Swell: Lately, we have been watching the progress of a storm slowly track eastward across the South Pacific, which looks like it is peaking in intensity today. As a result, we're looking for SW swell (235-205°) to gradually fill in over the week. The initial energy will slowly fill in over the next few days, topping out Thurs/Fri with mainly waist-head high surf for the region, standouts in the northern half of Costa producing occasional overhead sets. The SW swell will then rise up further over the weekend and into Monday the 8th with head-overhead sets at the better exposed breaks late Saturday through Tuesday, occasional double overhead sets at standouts (strongest overall on Monday). This swell starts to ease Tuesday the 9th and thereafter. NOTE - This swell will be strongest for the northern half of Costa, with partial shadowing by the Galapagos on the southern half.

Tropics: We currently have a couple tropical systems in the EPAC right now, Andres and Blanca. Unfortunately, Andres is not looking to send any swell to Central America, as it has been tracking away from the region. However, Blanca is showing good potential to send over some small-scale to possibly fun-size West-WNW swell on the weekend and early next week at well exposed locations. This will depend greatly on the progress of Blanca over the next few days, so stay tuned. Also, you can check out the NHC for more details on these storms.
