Late to bed and a prolonged sleeplessness in the middle of the night prompted me to hit the alarm bell this morning. Around 9a, I drove to check a few nearby spots. Several were out of control, a couple were under- or mis-performing, and a third, looked nearly tempting. As I waited on a rock abutment to a wall it began to sway and vibrate--another earthquake, reported later from the epicenter on the south coast as a 6.0--but, 4 cars showed up to check out the break so I decided to skip it until later. With the incoming size I really wasn't up for testing the "ghost sets" this break is known for (I am NOT that recovered as of yet). As it was anyway the only portion of the spot breaking was at the bowl, not the other 3 takeoff zones. We'll see what happens the next few days as these high winds continue.
