CRNW Forecast and Report, Thu, 2015-0312 noon

Yesterday's Report: David, Rick and I paddled out to surf some of the new swell that had been gradually filling in during the day, some fun 2-5 ft surf. Papagayos were mild when we paddled out but because very strong the last half-hour. Riding for was like flying in the blind using my jedi hands to feel the contours of the wave and hope a rock or person were not in my path! Everyone had some funs ones with takeoffs on the Northside Rock or Wash proper.

We finished the day off with piƱa coladas, beers and casados de pescado or pollo. And slept well.

This Morning's Report: Today's swell was up with the Outer Wash likely in the 8-10+ range but the Papagayos were much too strong to consider this as a realistic option. Our takeoff zones ranged between The Wash precinct, Northside Wash and Middle Wash. All 4 of participated in waves ranging from 4 to 7 ft. The offshores were raging but doable... only a couple of Jedi surf rides for me.

Post Session Grinds: Typical breakfast of eggs, gallo pinto, tomato slices and tortillas.

Effective Wednesday evening

SHORT TERM FORECAST (through Sunday, March 15th):
Highlights: Solid Southern Hemi peaks for the second half of the week.

South Pacific Swell: There has been a good run of storm activity in the SPAC this month and those lows have generated some solid Southern Hemi swell. The first S-SSW swell (210-190) is filling in now then tops out Thursday and Friday. Lots of spots have head+ to well overhead surf while standouts go double overhead+ on sets. Fading but still very fun waves on Saturday, then Sunday is mainly in the waist-shoulder high range.

EXTENDED FORECAST (Monday, March 16th, and beyond):
Highlights: More Southern Hemi swell on the way, some new NW swell too for exposures.

South Pacific Swell: Old S-SSW swell (210-190) fades out going into next week while a fresh round of long-period S-SSW(205-185) Southern Hemi starts to move in. The southerly swell rises through Tuesday then peaks on Wednesday/Thursday (18th-19th) as an underlying WSW pulse joins in, setting up head high to several feet overhead zone surf at good exposures and plus sets for top breaks, Those waves ease into the following weekend, 21st-22nd, while another S-SSW groundswell starts to show. More S-SSW Southern Hemi is scheduled to move in by during the first half of the following week, 23rd-25th, keeping waves up through the rest of this month.

SolSpot is grossly underestimating the surf size as 2-3 ft.
