Effective Monday evening

SHORT TERM FORECAST (through Friday, March 13th):
Highlights: Solid Southern Hemi peaks by the second half of the week, as NW swell is minimal.

South Pacific Swell: Old SSW swell (220-200) eases on Tuesday, with mostly waist-chest high surf  some lingering larger sets at top spots.

There has been a good run of storm activity in the SPAC this month and those lows have generated some solid Southern Hemi swell. The first S-SSW swell (210-190) builds in on Wednesday, (primarily in the afternoon),  then tops out Thursday and Friday. Lots of spots have head+ to well overhead surf while standouts go double overhead+ on sets.

Wind/Weather: For northern Costa Rica look moderate to locally stronger offshore flow (strongest offshore flow for the northern half of the Nicoya Peninsula towards the Nicaragua border, lighter for the southern end) for the mornings. Northern regions remain offshore through the day as other areas see winds turning onshore.

EXTENDED FORECAST (Saturday, March 14th, and beyond):
Highlights: More Southern Hemi swell on the way.

South Pacific Swell: S-SSW swell (210-190) winds down through the weekend, for mainly waist-shoulder high+ leftovers by Sunday. By next Monday, 16th, a fresh round of long-period S-SSW(205-185) Southern Hemi starts to fills in during the afternoon.  The southerly swell rises through Tuesday then peaks on Wednesday/Thursday with head+ to several feet surf at exposures and more size for top breaks, Those waves ease into the following weekend, 21st-22nd, as a new SW Southern Hemi is scheduled to join in. We'll keep you posted on the progress of those storm/swell systems as they develop.
