Hit the road from Philly to JFK at 330am this morning... drive went very smoothly as did rental car return, check-in and TSA Pre-Check, although my shoes set off the alarm and TSA wanted to inspect my carry-on bag. "Oh no! Is it my Mini Moo's stuffed in a clear Quart zip lock bag?" No, it wasn't, "Whew!" It was my surge protection/extension cord that I routinely take in my carry-on bag for hotels and airport use. Just paid the standard 2nd bag fee for my paipo bag, on Jet Blue. Good trip... until making the landing at the Liberia airport where...
The airplane did a touch and go (without the actual touching) at Liberia. I knew something was up when we still had not made ground contact and we were almost to the terminal. The papagayos must have spooked the pilot. They gunned the throttle and the plane started rising steeply. We survived... no stall. Circled around, let two planes land ahead of us and then immigration was super, super slow... biggest lines I'd ever seen at Liberia. I chalk it up to a couple of slow agents.

The
pilot tried to calm the passengers saying an animal was crossing the
runway. I knew better based upon the landing approach. In immigrations
line somebody asked what kind of animal it was... one of the pilots replied that it was a
jackalope. Ha Ha. I corrected the others saying it was a burrkey (monkey
on a burro mutation).
It was a welcome shock going from 23 to 93F!
Needless to say we arrived very late to the hotel without enough time to go through the process of getting the boards and surf gear ready, contacts in, SPF45 applied and so on... plus the surf was looking small. And we were travel weary so instead of screwing something up we settled for a couple of Bavaria Negras while watching the sun settle towards the horizon, unpacked our luggage, ate dinner and then unpacked surf gear and prepared the boards. We slept very soundly.
All the stay was asking about Terry. My reply, "I told them you have a Japanese mistress that just won't let go of you ;) "
Surf was mostly breaking at the middle inside Wash break off one of the rocks and at the way inside break off another rock.

Dave and I missed DP this morning... high tide was at 5:15a or so, and I crawled
out of bed at 6a, Dave shortly afterwards. Needed coffee and time for
the body to adjust to travel stress. The Papagayos also blowing very
strong this morning. Tomorrow morning we will make it! Waiting to Griz
and Rick who arrive on noon flights... high tide around 6p so perfect to
paddle out after they arrive between 2:30 and 3pm.
Retrieved
one bag out of storage room... the board bag. The "coffeemaker bag" was
lodged in a corner where a skunk was napping so will have to try that one again
later. At least Rick is bringing a coffeemaker. Also need my wet surf gear and laundry hanging cord from that bag along with two coffee mugs. Everything else is redundancy. My buddy is missing me during his weekend sleepover with the grandparents. He is staring at my chair and giving my wife the "What gives?" look.

We didn't see any NE swell influence. Swell was definitely stronger this morning compared to our arrival late yesterday afternoon. Outer Wash is breaking off and on towards mid-tide.
